Junior year, I was able to take the Scenic Design class at Notre Dame. For the final project, I had to create a white model and full color set model for the play The Beauty Queen of Leenane by Martin McDonagh. Set in a small town in 90’s Ireland, this thriller was set in a disheveled Irish home. I learned how to build a scale model and figure out the best placements for set pieces based on audience view and actor interaction. I also practiced choosing a color scheme to complement the tones the play’s script displays.
